How do I disable "Key in Ign" chime, 01 F350
How do I disable my "Key in Ignition" chime on my '01 F-350 V-10?? I have a '00 F-250 7.3 that is O.K., chimes when I leave the lights on. But this '01 chimes all the time the door is open when the key is in! I build fence, and use this truck to work from, with the key in and door open!! Thanks!!

Here's How!
I checked out some other threads that were for differents year models, etc. I noticed some talked of cutting a black with pink stripe wire that goes up the steering column. Here's what worked for me!
Remove the big cover under the steering column. Find the cable that goes up the steering column, the one with about 8 wires, including a black with pink stripe. Unplug the connector in the cable. Look at the connector on the loose end of the cable (the other end is fastened to a support). It is a black plastic block with a red "bar" in the middle, between the 2 rows of pins. Release the red "bar" by pushing in on it, in the hole in the side of the black block, and pull it out. Now you can release the "black with pink stripe" wire. Tape it up and let it hang free. Reassemble everything. Now your chimer won't chime!!

Just a thought, in case you haven't already dug into your wiring.
I don't know about Fords on this, but I generally just pull my key out 1/4 inch or so when I want to leave it in the ignition. It gets to be a habit after a while, and you'll do it automatically. Just remember to take your key all the way out when you really do want it
