Automatic Transmission

At 160000+ miles what modifications would be helpful in prolonging and improving the stock auto on a 98 F150 XLT 4x4 with a 5.4?

a tranny cooler may help, unless you already have one. but maybe switching to synthetic tranny fluid, like amsoil or royal purple

I've started regular transmission flushes too. These new trannys aren't like the old ones where the mentality was "if it ain't broke, don't fix it". I noticed crisper shifts after the flush so it definitely helps.

Just keep doing what you are doing. Regular flushes and a cooler (with a gauge) if you tow a lot.

At 160000, I wouldn't worry about synthetics. The days where that might have helped are long gone.
