The other problem I have (feel free to shoot me, but I've learned in the past) is buying something from a company that doesn't take the time to update their website, and/or packaging. When I looked at the Edge, the box said 2004-2006 and the dealer told me it just "carries over into 2008". I thought to myself they must not sell many of these, or the manufacturer is lazy. Turns out they had one in the back that read 2004-2008. I wasn't about to take the word of someone wanting to make a "sale" for a possible $500.00 investment. Now I go to Troyer Performance, and their website says "2004-2006 F150's 2V and the "newer 3V"". Excuse me, but this is 2008. You haven't updated your website (This is the age of the Internet) in TWO years? Or perhaps you haven't updated your PRODUCT in TWO years...Fix your website and packaging, and you might have a sale

You have to remember something in the case of Mike Troyer... he's not a web guy. He's a gear head and a tuner... and he currently sells more SCT tuners than anyone in the country. Its your loss as far as how good a tune you get if you choose a different product. The guy is constantly writting new tunes, working on the dyno, etc. I've been in the tuning business for years, at one point was the #2 Diablo dealer in the country.. and since I left the business there's only one tuner other than myself I'll trust my Roush F150 with... Mike Troyer. He's not just going to make a generic tune for you... he's going to send you datalogging instructions with your SCT and with that, build a tune specific for not just your wants, but also specific to how its been maintained, and the results of the datalog. The Edge stuff... really good for the average guy wanting to buy something, plug it in and go. But if you want more refined tunes, far more refined, its worth the time to fill out details about your truck, your driving habits and then do some datalogging after you get the tuner so he can email updates based on that. Worth every penny. Give them a call, they often give discounts to FTE members... just say you're from Ford-trucks.com.
Spend 5 minutes on the phone with any knucklehead selling an Edge, and 5 minutes with Mike. You'll understand. Really... call them. Even the ladies in the front office know more details about tuners than 95% of the retailers out there (though they will refer you to Mike for in-depth technical stuff).
I was planning on getting an Edge mostly because I wanted the gauges, but the gauge I want the most is for the trans temp., after hearing what FTE Ken and a few others think of the SCT vs. Edge I'm changing my mind, as I would like to get the most for the money. I was going to get the Troyer E-fans, underdrive pulleys, and Valvebody and I think it would be better since I can talk to them and they can help with the tune I will need. And I can just order it all from one place and I'll just put in an a-pillar pod for the trans gauge.

I plan on talking to a "live person", and soon. My point is, that if I was not so inquisitive, and was merely looking for a tuner, I'd take one look at their page, see it was for 04-06 models, and go elsewhere. They are probably losing quite a bit of business for not updating some xml code that would take 10 minutes. I wasn't very clear in my rant.
If I did not have the Edge with his custom tunes already, I would buy the Gryphon from Bill at Power Hungry Performance. Has the gauges like the Edge, which I use constantly plus Bill's tunes and customer service. He is quick and very knowledgable. If I wanted an Xcal 2 or 3, I would go with VMP Tuning, Justin turns them out rapidly and has had great results.

guess you can view that 2 ways... you can either buy your stuff from a car guy who doesn't pay to update his site and lets his reputation do the talking or you can buy from a website that no one knows who is behind the product, and is all advertisement and flashy web pages. i'd rather the first... some of the websites of the better shops i've seen make my mind boggle.
