2002 Explorer rusting Running Boards

Anyone else have trouble with rusting running boards? It seems to be worse at the ends just before the plastic tips. There has to be a better way to build these things! It's not like Ford or Rust havn't been around the last 100 years!!!

Had a huge issue on my 03 ST. Ford refinished them twice and them finally gave me a new set when I complained.
