302 to 351w Swap

302 to 351w Swap
I have 71 F100 thats stock with the exception of PertronixII igniter and matching ignition coil(302 with C4 tranny).
I am going to pick up what appears to be a 1973 351 windsor tommorow.
The 302 in my truck runs good but is getting tired, 160k.
I plan to rebuild the 351 if rebuildable, if not at least use the heads when the 302 gets rebuilt.
I did a search on 302 to 351w swaps, but still not sure what parts would swap from my motor to the 351.
My goal is to get a little more power and to keep it mild and streetable.
The guy with the 351w said it came from a 73 Turino. I don't know for sure.
I appreciate any insight you guys can give.

Those 351W heads on your 302 requires ARP shouldered head bolts or adapters and you won't gain anything. A nice mild 351W buildup would be a set of GT-40P heads, (you'll need a set of later fulcrum-style rockers), an Edelbrock Performer intake and cam set with springs and 500cfm 4bbl with a good set of headers and exhaust system. To gain a bit more power and torque with such a mild setup, rebuild the 351 with 351M/400 rods (pin bores bushed to .927") and a set of Keith Black #355 pistons for a 327 Ford stroker.

Pretty easy swap if you put the 351 in. You will need to get new exhaust, though. 351 has a taller deck hieght which means the exhaust manifold outlets wont match up with where your current exhuast is. Good news is, you can keep the radiator, engine perches and mounts and some of the front brackets off your 302.
