Looking for some suggestions ...

I'm going to remove the bed from my Ranger for an extended period, and I'm wondering about how best to mount the rear lights so that I can continue to drive the vehicle (legal, on the road).

I'm thinking maybe I could get brackets/lens/etc. from a flat bed in the junk yard, but not sure if that would work without having to drill into my frame ... and I'd really rather not have to do that.

HOW can I mount these lights? I'm looking for some fairly SIMPLE ideas please.

Thanks.

Your frame should have some holes towards the back that are unused, if not you can use the rear-most bed bolt holes. The path of least resistance is purchasing a set of the cheapest trailer lights you can find, and either splicing them into the factory harness with a junkyard connector, or plugging them into your trailer connector if you have one.

I had my bed off for about a month while repairing wheel arch rot, and this is what I did.

Don't forget to make something to hold the gas tank filler neck up off the tires - I used a piece of angle iron I drilled 1 hole in, bolted it to a nearby hole on the top of the frame, then duct taped the hose to that piece of angle iron. Was a bit hokey but it worked - I had two of them since my crewcab has dual tanks.

also check your local laws, they might require you to have some kind of fender if they do then i'd get the cheapest thing i could find... you might be able to make some out of plywood and put them on with some L brackets or somethin
