my question is on my 3.8 1988 motor over #5cyl on the intake there is what is called ex heat cont valve and i have been playing stump the parts guy.lol.what i am wondering is can i just cap it off or do i need try and find one or buy another intake?also seems like #5 cyl is dead, yes getting spark.thanks
Mine was staying open so I just pulled and plugged the vacuum line that went to it. This thing diverts exhaust gas to the riser pad. I have never pulled one out, but something would have to be put in there to keep the exhaust gasses from getting to the riser pad. You sure wouldn't want that thing heating up in 90-degree weather.
The main point is, how would it keep the #5 cylinder from working?
