Found heater core for 1948 type heaters

My heater core leaked tried to fixed it
I found my 1948 type heater 8x8x2
could be replaced by a 1968 ford car heater core 6x8x2
with only a little cutting of the back plate and add some 1/2 copper pipe
for only 30.00 from rockauto
(PROLIANCE 399020)

Pretty clever! I've never seen that type of heater, with the doors. Is it a Ford script heater?

I installed a new core in my Magic Air unit a few months ago, it was out of a 60's model Jeep. I cut the tubes and soldered on copper 90 degree fittings and tubing it works great. I bought it from Parts America (CSK) part #EVP399204 cost was $37.99.

Hmm Odd?!?

Almost 2 years ago I restored the Fresh Aire Heater on my 51 F1. I just walked into the corner auto repair shop and told Claudio to get me a new core and he did. I don't remember the manufacturer, but here are the numbers off the tag I took off it and pasted in my manual: Core number 399406/PWD 1796178/Ref H50B. That should work for any Magic Aire for the trucks and maybe the cars.

Dan

Hope that helps

I found a good web site for the specs and aplication of heater cores
TRANSPRO.com that is PROLIANCE heater core etc....
your part # 399204 is a proliance core
for a 1960-67 jeep
#399406 for a international scout 1970-77
the one I used#399020 is for a 1968 ford galaxie 500

that heater does not have FORD SCRIPT on it but does line up with
the mount holes and tube lines
