Nahh...cram air and fuel into tight space, compress and ignite...cootie-bob-style.
With the Flathead I will have the injector within 5-7 inches in the back face of the intake valve.
What I'll do is set up the manifold with a calibrated leaf blower motor moving air, set the fuel regulator for 65 lbs have all this, -Flatmotor suspended 4.67 ft above the ground and see if I can impliment the scorched earth polocy within 3 seconds. And I'm talkin smokin roots, I don't need no stinkin flow bench, thats why the Good Lord invented Neighbors.
Did I mention I'm building my own manifold
I get to weld bungs, not just a couple bungs I get to weld a whole bunga abungaload.

I will not get sucked into this thread

I will ....

Dang it now you have me just when I had decided not to bother with the EFI and stick with a simple 4bbl. But boy did I ever enjoy hooking up the laptop and going for a little speed density tuning joy ride around Texas Motor Speedway in the old Caddy CTS-V.

Ok nevermind, I'm moving onto finishing my brakes and body work. Good luck boys.

It is a pretty kick **** stand alone computer.
Haltech Engine Management Systems

A buddy of mine used an E8 to control his 13B RX7 with a GT40 turbo on it. He is using the same thing to control the 4.8 V8 that is going in there now. It is pretty slick but it is also a little on the spendy side.

I've heard of Haltech, well, I guess I should say that I've seen auctions for the brain-box on Ebay. I don't know much about them though (pricey kind of ruled them out in my case)

How are they in the way of ease of hook-up, tuning, etc?

I'm not sure about ease of hookup, but I can't imagine it would be all that hard. Tuning looked to be straightforward. A laptop is hooked up and you can make changes in real time.

Another thing to look at is using the Ford ECU and a Tweecer. You can have 5 different programs that are selectable but you are more limited with that than a stand alone.

I just did a quick run thru of the Haltech System, with the limited RPM range of the Flathead (Non-Racing) the 500 RPM increment adjustments are a bit too wide for my tastes.
I think the application is more for a high rev machine.
I think for the majority of engines that you'll find stuffed in these Old Fords to get the most out of the EFI (Driveability, performance etc) it will be a plug and play with no Off the Shelf System filling all the needs.
Just like the Ol Days, What can I make work, to impress myself.

Yes Havi, I think theyre using a late model LT1 distributor. At least that's what it looks like to me. Check out the water pump plumbing setup?? It must have an electric pump in the rear of the car? Its' wild aint it!!

Side Suckin shivey blowin it out the top, ummm, sounds about right.

(If all those folks standin around starin at that thing switched thumbs at once, it may well be the sound heard round the world.

I wonder if the moonshine barrel sitting on the back had anything to do with that design?

well I have an idea for my next project I using a y block and it has the runners on top of eachother like any others and I'm thinking of using speed density mustang system and stacking runners on top of eachother and putting the injectors on the side and at an angle, the real problem I'm thinking is fuel rail the routing would have to be quit complicated to get everything to work but thier would be alot of custom fabing for intake plates coolant routing sensor, good thing I'm a welder and a mechanic. Plenum box a lot of square tubing and a whole lot of time. Think it could work?
