Alright, I haven't started my truck since, well I'd say september mabye?
I pulled the entire wiring harness and the upper intake manifold. I threw a rag over the lower intake and closed the hood.
Well after making a harness to go between the stock harness and the new 104 harness and ecm, I went out and hooked it all up.
At firs the engine wouldn't turn over. It was stuck at 1 position. I mean I could rotate the crank in reverse, but not complete and entire revolution. And if I rotated it back, it stopped in the same position. I suspected something somehow fell down and intake runner and I my suspision was confirmed, when it warmed up later today and with all the spark plugs out, it finally turned over and threw out some water droplets and ice particles.
Well after letting it turn over for a min or so to get the oil primed, I installed a new set of plugs and wires, and fired it up.
Huzzah it worked!
Well not all is great as there is something that sounds mechanically wrong with it. There is a noise that sounds similar to a lifter, yet this truck has roller lifters, so I doubt that is what it is.
Mabye I broke a piston ring?
other than that, I cannot guess what else it could be.
The noise changes with increased engine rpm, I mean it clicks at the same rate as the crank turns.
if it clicks as the engine speeds up that could be piston slap, the piston could be slapping the head or their could be something foreign in the combustion chamber
maybe an exhaust leak? check ur manifolds or headers, what ever you have on it... the bolts could be lose or the gasket could be burnt out or cracked.... just a suggestion.
Horray, the sound mysteroulsy vanished!! I hope it stays away for good. New problems though. The OD light on the shifter is flashing and sometimes the check engine light comes on when I start it and other times it doesn't come on at all.
I need to install the obd2 harness and hook up a scan tool to it, and see what the heck is going on.
My AODE OD light was flashing too when i drive down the highway when it goes into OD for a long period of time, it has stopped sicne i got the motor rebuilt, i just think lack of power which made the truck bog out and casue the tranny to heat maybe...
crank position sensor i belive is also known as the knock sensor, its located on the back of the water pump on the timing chain cover hidden behind your AC pump/ powersteering pump.
the o2 is in ur exhast, the cut out cat might be messn with it or if you change your crank pos. sensor it might go away cause your computer is trying to compinsate for the messed up sensor which is throwing everything outta wack!
when the TPS was shot in my truck, my nock sensor, purge canister, Throttle pos. sensor, and transmission sensor came up. I changed the TPS and it all went away...
