'96 sport - engine
well, I bit the bullet, and did an engine swap - finally got it back on Friday...
but I noticed that my mechanic used a 4.0ohv out of a 95, and looks like he put my old intake from the other engine back on, and gave me some other parts, like a coil pack, and fan... strange...
the engine runs "ok" - but I notice that it seems to accelerate a little bit rough in the low speed areas - it has plenty of power on the highway, etc, but if you climb a hill from a stop sign, it's not quite as smooth as I remember the other one to be.
it almost seems like it's running too rich, since it's really noticable when it's colder... it's not a miss or anything, but like a vibration in the steering wheel on acceleration... never stalls - doesn't idle rough or anything like that.... strange....
the big question is this - are the 4.0ohv engines from 95 to 96 similar enough to work fine, or was there something with a 96 OHV engine that I would be missing? how does the OBD II come into play here?
Thanks to all
So, if the port works at all, I still have true blue OBDII? even though the intake is different, and I noticed some other wiring that I don't recall from the old engine....
all I care is that it passes emissions without a problem - I wonder if there is some sort of test to see if it is using the same computer, etc... or if all is the same sensor wise? I actually think that OBDII is more trouble than it's worth sometimes - too many codes, etc...
any thoughts....
