looking for input on building a 351/400

I have a 77 F150 351M C6 AC PS PB and the motor is getting tired. I have a 400 block sitting in the garage waiting to be freshened up for transplant. I'm aware of the idiosyncrisies of these motors, but I'm sure they have untapped potential. I just don't know what route to go to take advantage it. I live in Montana with no smog rules, so I'd appreciate any suggestions for low buck improvements.
I've tried to make sense of the previous post, but got lost in the arguments.
I'm just looking for recommendations on cams, valve sizes, carbs, intakes, headers, etc.

Hot Rod magazine did a good build up on the 400 in the Spt 98 issue. Here's a link to a scanned copy of the article:

I am rebuilding a 400 myself. I am trying to find out who makes the 9.0:1 compression pistons for it. But some good news is that weiand now makes manifold extensions so you can use 351C manifolds. That means if you find a pair of 4V heads your in business. But if anyone knows anything else about these parts please reply, because I'm interested also.
