Delaware Chapters Folding@Home Contribution To Save Lives

We are trying to do something about it.

Stanford University has fronted a program that allows people at home with computers that lay idle to help process information to help cure the worst disease of all time. And if you want to - YOUR home computer can help a LOT!

PLEASE follow this link, to see what it is all about. YOU CAN HELP TOO!

https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/5...ding-home.html

Please join the FTE FOLDING@HOME team - it means more than I can tell you just like this.

Absolutely a great cause.

When you get your program downloaded, the team number is 53449 for FTE.

Thumbs up

Wolfie I am up and running, about a quarter of the way thru my first work unit.

User name is DELAWARE_CHAPTER_LEADER_FTE. Go figure.

DE members I urge you all to do this worth while project. We can make a difference.

I have noticed no significant decrease in my computer speed. For the most part unless you are running graphic intensive games or other software, I doubt you will see any difference either. It is a very small program that takes up very little hard drive space.

Here is the direct link to the http://folding.stanford.edu/ website at Stanford University. The site explains the program in more detail.

Download the program from this site. Ryan has done some extensive research into this project. Click on the link in his signature to read more.

Wouldn't it be great if we could say the Delaware Chapter members are 100% behind this project?!!!!!

Post your user name in this thread when you sign up.

Don't forget we are part of the FTE Team #53449.

Here is what Team FTE has done so far:

http://vspx27.stanford.edu/cgi-bin/m...&teamnum=53449

My understanding is that your username will appear on the list when you have completed a work unit.

You may not see your results on that immediately. My experience after sending back a Work Unit is that the credit doesn't show for a few hours, but it will.

You can also print out a certificate for what you have done at any time by clicking on your personal stats. (the number of WU's or Points you have)

This is what one of them looks like:

Below this is a Work Unit certificate. I resized it so that it wouldn't hurt the bandwidth at the site much, but you can see that they are a real certificate from Stanford. They appreciate us very much!

(and this right here is a "SOUTHERNISM")

"I GUARANTEE YA!!!"

Third computer, a laptop, up and running now. 16 WU's completed to date. Wifey's computer, a home shopping model, is super fast, she has completed 12 of the 16 WUs. BTW its a Dell dude, duo core and blazing fast.

Great, remember it is not important how fast you do it. It is important that you are doing it for the cause.

Finished WU 21.

There is a lot of discussion about what does what and why it is under the parent thread in the general forum.

I don't know why some WU's take longer than others, unless it is the size of the molecule involved. I had a 5,000 that took a week to do. The most recent is another 5,000 I started Saturday, and it's at 74% now.

It's kinda like that.

~Wolf

PS: I guess we are kicking diseases butts one molecule at a time!
