Just wondering what and how much of the original hardware is used for this conversion, will be going electric but want to know what parts are included with a kit and what's not.
John
Well, you'll need new longer felt lined channels, new longer wipes at the bottom of the window opening and of course new glass. Power windows will come with a new lower frame to attach to the glass. You will remove your window regulators and the divider bar and wing vent frame/glass. Might be able to sell those items in the classified or on Ebay.
Do the felt lined channels come with the part that bolts to the rear section of the door and is there something to secure the felt lined channel at the front of the door. I have misplaced or probably thrown out mistakenly the insides of this door so this is why I am curious as to what I will need from the original hardware. I've tried viewing the instructions from Midfifty but can only view the first of 3 pages of them, I may have to contact them for the infor. Thanks John
You will need that metal channel you threw away. I don't recall what happens at the front felt channel but I think just a clip is supplied with the kit that attaches with a bolt.
You could probably make a metal channel to hold the felt channel at the rear but would be easier if you could get another one from a salvage door.
I did check out the CPP site and it looks like a good kit, but it sounds that it was supplied by John's Fun 100's and I've read in other posts that they have a bad rep and I've dealt with Cpp and they are rather slow in proccessing an order, but will have to bite the bullet one of these days.
