I have a 87 f150 with dual tanks and it seems when i fill up the rear tank the one i use mostly it acts like it running out of gas i can switch to the front tank i keep a little in that tank but when i run a little bit of gas out of the rear it does fine and sometime it wont do it, so i was wondering if the tank selector valve going bad or fuel pump i have changed the filter
and also my front rims around the hubs are hot not scroching but they blow steam up when going through water
Sounds like the low pressure pump is getting bad, and This era truck did have unusually high temps at the front hubs (4x4).
I would inspect your front bearings - replace and grease if needed.
I had to chuckle a little at the title of this thread.
If you're only having a fuel issue in the rear tank, I'd personally guess there's either something plugging up a line there somewhere, or the pump is getting ready to die.
There *is* the possibility that it's in your selector valve... perhaps when it's switching to the rear, it's not fully opening the valve for that tank properly.
I can't think of any other ideas right now, but if I come up with something I'll let you know.
