Decatur is supposedly the best of the year but was last weekend

In 1989 I lived in Dallas and went to a Antique Swap Meet southwest of Ft. Worth, an annual event on a farm. It was huge. I don't know if they still have it. I was looking at a map and think it was south on 377.The name Pate come to mind but I'm not positive. I just did a goggle. Name is correct, Pate. It will be held this April 24-27 near the motor speedway.Have a great day,chuck

Welcome to our little corner of FTE!
The Pate Swap Meet was held southwest of Fort Worth on 377 until the Pate family sold the site to developers. The old farm is now full of homes but the museum of transportation is still there. The meet was moved to TMS after it was built about 10 years ago.

Every year there are several at LaGrave field north of downtown Fort Worth, one at Trader's Village in south Arlington, one at the Ballpark in Arlington, Pate at TMS and the Decatur swap meet, which was last weekend like Scott said.

Don't worry about being late! (can't help with the dollar short as I feel your pain!) The Decatur swap meet is getting bigger every year and it's one of the first of the season, so it has a loyal following. But as far as size/volume/time span, the Pate Swap Meet at TMS is the largest in the north Texas area.

There is a company from MN that has been at Pate for a long time that might be able to help with your rear glass. I'll try to find one of my old vendor listings to see if I can get you a phone number/web address. The specialize in "classic auto glass" and were selling front glass for a '56 for ~$180, which I thought was very reasonable.

There is a swap meet at La Grave field (600 N Main) in Fort Worth, next one Apl. 12 & 13. Lots old stuff. Free admission. (254) 751-7958
Also in today's S-T I see there is a Lewis Auto Swap in Canton
at the first monday grounds this weekend. Ad says Antique Classic Autos Trucks, parts and more. (903) 567-3037

I haven't been able to find any info on the glass vendor but I will keep looking. I have their business card with prices written on the back, so I'm pretty sure I didn't throw it away. Just lost in my comprehensive filing system.

I just ran across some information in the Pate Swap Meet magazine from last year. I think this is the glass company (www.vintageglass.com) although it is in GA and not MN. (My rememberer don't work like it used to.) I didn't see a big window for a 57, but then again, his "schedule" is from 1999! Might be worth a call or e-mail.

I found this at another site for 2008 listings.
Carl's Corner Swap Meet Mar 28-30th CALL 254-799-2881

That must be a "left over" from a previous year. FYI-the Carl's Corner swap meet has been "cancelled" at the last minute a couple of times in the last 10 years. I'd call before making the trip. I'm tied up that weekend so you'll have to check it out for us.

I snuck out to the swap meet at La Grave field this afternoon and ran across the guys from Vintage Glass. I talked to Greg (770-900-6363 cell) and he has a wrap around rear glass for a '57 for $399. Probably not the bargain price you've been looking for, but at least there is a source.
