Getting ready for first tow
The wife and I are getting ready for our first big tow with the beast. A am pulling a 35 ft 12.5k fth wheel. We will be going from a very flat area (Virginia Beach Virginia) going through some pretty good mountains (at least for the east coast) going to Nashville Tenn. I have towed this trailer with my 05 6.0. It was ok, but I m really loking foward to putting this truck through its paces. I guess my 2 concerns are finding Ultra Low diesel in a place I can get my trailer into, and what it will be like going down the mountains. The short amount of distance I have towed with my 08 350 is like night and day. I usually get 19-20 mpg highway empty at 65. So I am very curious how I do with a load. Any one with any suggestions or things I need to watch out for please feel free to chime in.

You can get USLD at all BP stations also. The tow haul mode and brake controller is amazing towing down the hills. It is a real pleasure to tow with. Averaged 8.76 for over 2,000 miles last summer and I pushed it pretty hard. Averaging 5mph over the speed limit with traffic most of the time. Except I usually kept it 65 and under. Thanks for the update. I know several guys with Duramax motors that report similar mileage with their trucks. Yet, somehow, on forums the Duramax magically gets some ridiculous mpg like 19 pulling an aircraft carrier while exhausting rainbows and the sweet smell of chocolate.
LOL!!
