Looking at 66 F250 4x4
#3
from what I came up with in my book of numbers there were 5 different 4X4 variations offered...the styleside being the largest production at 3559 The flareside aka stepside had a run of 1595...flareside is a Ford term, stepside is a GM term btw...it took me a bit to get them straight in my mind too...
Two others were flatbed variations with runs of 125 for whats called platform and rack and 29 for the platform. The chassis and cab had a run of 644...basicly no bed as I interpret it..
Grand total is 5552. Either way, its a rare beast...check the door tag/VIN...if the truck has an F25 or F10 its not a true factory 4X4...F26 and F11 are the most common numbers for the 4 wheel drives. The F10/F11 are for the 1/2 ton trucks...
Ive seen guys try to pass off a so called factory 4WD saying all this and that...but the numbers dont lie...its kinda fun to explain the facts of life to them when they are trying to pan off a so called factory 4WD.
If its the real deal and not too beat to heck and the price is right...get it...beware of rust though...cab mounts and rear cab corners are common areas to go bad...
Let us know how things turn out...always love finding a 4Wd :-)

btw, the numbers above are referenced from The Standard Catalog of Light Duty Ford Trucks 1905-2002, by John Gunnell copyright 2003

*61-64 style cab with the step up just inside the doors
*Steering column below the dash, not through the dash
*The oil filter on the 4x4 352 engine is mounted vertically
*57-60 styleside bed or 8 foot flareside bed
*Dana/Spicer 24 transfer case
*Four spoke steering wheel

I get a regular 7 maybe 8 to a gallon in my 69 Highboy Crew.......Stock 360 2V 435 and 410s.
The six should deliver around 12 tops.
I watched DwightV in front of me for 1100 miles get over 20 on a stock 352 with 3.25 gears and a three on the tree...and i had a 300 six with a holley 390 and hedders and he beat my mileage of 20.

To camperspecial65. I have a 1961 F250 factory 4x4. With a 8 foot step side bed. Do you have any numbers for the 1961 run? Mine has the 292 with 4 speed 4.56 gears.
