Excellent thread and build up of the truck. I found this site as I was looking for information on dropping my 73 F100 and look at what I found..........A GOLD MINE of information. This is what I will be doing to my truck since I know for a fact that it can be done. Thanks to everyone who contributed to this thread and to the OP, one nice truck.

You've done some amazing work CarCrafter. I was actually researching the Mustang II conversion when I came across your posting. This will definitely be the route I take. I haven't had a chance to read all 64 pages of this massive post yet so hopefully my question isn't something that has been beatened to death already. But I'm wondering if this IFS would work just the same in a 4x4 truck? I was planning to buy a 4x2 but I have a '77 F150 back home that I might end up restoring if this conversion would work. I don't see why it wouldn't, just wanted to make sure. Thanks for all the info you have shared on this conversion.

gas tank

CC I think I have missed it but what gas tank did you end up using? I know 72 is using a 70s mustang tank. Just curious what you are looking at. I have my suspension together, now all the other stuff is needing attention. I need to get the gas situtation figured out so I can start working on the motor and fuel injection.

Shoestring, in case you were interested the fuel tank I used was a tanks inc poly tank for a 53 Chevy. It was the right size for the space to add the IRS and is not too low. Carcrafter said there was some clearance problems with the IRS and Cougar tank so I went with a smaller size. The capacity is around 16 gallons and $200 with shipping. I have some pictures of the setup as it is now I can try to post.

I have been using a 22 gallon mustang fuel tank for about a year now and it works great.

Crown Vic Suspension

Carcrafter22,
I just subscribed to this forum, and wanted to know if the crown vic conversion will fit in a 57 - 59 (early 60) F100?? I guess what I need to know is how wide are the frame rails on your 67, so I can measure and see if it will fit.... What I really want to do is get a complete Crown Vic / Merc and use the complete drive line, wiring, and front suspension.... THanks
Ken

hello guys this is moe from mesa az just wanted to say hi and comment on all your progress with your builds all are very impressive i met matt in mesa i sold him wheels for his build and this inspired us to get a 67 f1oo for our shop truck we are using the 2007 crown vic front end from precision auto parts , just some info for everyone eibach has 2.5 lowering springs for about 150.00 for the pair also the crown vics bolt pattern is 5on114.3 where the dodge wheels being used are 5 on 115 it might seem trivial but where it comes in play is when you torque the wheels the studs actual bend causing fatigue which could lead to a wheel off there are plenty of wheels out there that will work and i encourage proper fitment would hate to see someone crash thier truck or get hurt i also would like interest in using a 1996 4.6 gt stang engine and tranny for a donor car matt said the hydra boost is the way to go for the brakes and power steering just not sure about the fuel injection and all the wiring seen the articles on the 4.6 build in classic trucks whats the best way to go? thanks for reading and all your input

Good information on the springs! I am also using a newer motor, a 2005 4.6 and tranny from a donar vehicle. I am using the original PCM and wiring, I just have to figure out what too keep and what to get rid off. I have a thread started in the modular engine section found on this site that is in reference to the use of the newer motor. Fuel system might be tricky for me since I am using the original PCM, the PCM is supposed to receive signals from the fuel pump and sending unit and send signals back. I do not have the original pump so I am going to have to figure out what to do next.

hello shoestrings this is moe was also thinking of going with a different intake which will take a carburator i just need to do more reading on the 96 4.6 i wi someone would post pictures of the engine mounts for the conversion with the 460 and the 390 trucks also american eagle boss makes a cool 338 style wheel 18x8 for the front and 20x10 for the rear also i believe that the roush big brakes with 14 inch rotors will work on the crown vic suspension

1965 f250

Hello, great thread and great build-up. I would like to do the same to my Ford - a 1965 F250. It there any difference between the F100 and F250 that would make the Crown Vic suspension not fit the F250?
