I am tearing apart my 351 cleveland and there were no gaskets between the heads and the intake manifold. Is this the way the came from the factory? Thanks

The factory gasket is a one piece metal pan. If it stuck to the intake or the heads, you may not have noticed that it was there. Is that possible? If you cannot see the lifter gallery then it stuck to the heads. If it is on the intake, the bottom would look pretty smooth.
I have heard of not using a gasket - saw a recent post from a guy who has built several and only uses sealer around the ports. But - that's probably not too common and I bet it's stuck to your intake or heads.
My mistake I am translattin this from my Dad to here I wa sat work well he tore it apart today. He said between the heads and the exhaust manifold there were no gaskets. Sorry and thanks
