Not fired - it wasn't because of my work. They don't have enough business and had to let two people go. I was new, so I was one of 'em.
Not even two weeks notice: Here's your check, here's the way it is, if it picks up we'll call ya, nice knowing ya, have a nice day!
The RV business.
What a PITA!!!
GOD WANTS ME TO WORK AT A FORD DEALERSHIP!!!
~That's the only thing I can figure.
So tonight I'm going to get snot-slinging hammered, and this weekend I'll look over my options.
Have a drink on me...

Welcome the Club. I should get my first unemployment check next week. It sucks. I haven't found anything yet but I do have a few offers if I decide to go back to hourly work. I really hope I can get a company of my own started. It should pick up for me when the income tax checks get here. I have several jobs to do as soon as the people get their income tax checks.

If you need an electrical genius call me.
(I'm serious)
I TAUGHT RADAR SYSTEMS TO PEOPLE FOR FOUR YEARS!
I have forgotten more about what electricity can do than anyone you know will ever learn.
I won't be out of work for long, and **** trailers!
I NEED A REAL DAMNED JOB!
And not with a CHICKEN crap company.
I'm chafing at the bit here - I need a job that challenges my SKILLS, not one that once in a while presents a DC current problem....
I am SO OVER bad wiring!
MOST OF WHAT GOES WRONG IN A TRAILER IS GRADE SCHOOL LEVEL.....
I want my oscilloscopes and signal generators back!
THAT! Is electronic HUNTING...

it took me 6 months to find my job, my wife looked and looked and does not look anymore, tired of the crap associated with looking for a job.
this state is the worst i have ever lived for finding a job. the job i have now still pays less then the job i had in 1994 as a high school drop out, not even factoring inflation.

Wolfie, have you tried a truck dealer? they have lots of electrical systems on semi's. Second thought would be to fix and repair CB's and linears for truck drivers. Third would be to figure a way to bring a CB into the 21st century by digitizing it, not the 70's technology that thay are built with now in china. You could create the next wave of electronics for the trucking industry.

Its getting tough everywhere. I've found a few remodeling jobs to get me by for now. I'm taking the contractors class in March & getting my license. I'll be able to take own bigger jobs after I do. I can't pull permits now. I haven't found anything like I was doing before I was laid off. Every cabinet shop I've applied at is laying off instead of hiring. Memphis builders really overbuilt. There is a 2 yr supply of new homes setting in the Memphis metro area. I think remodeling is going to be the main construction till the inventory of new homes is sold. I want my own business again anyway. I have been self employed almost all my life.

I found a new job in cabinets again. This shop also sells blinds & plantation type shutters. Its less prone to lose business due to housing sales than the type of company I was laid off from last. They sell as much in blinds & shutters as the last company did in cabinets. I hope it works out. I like the guys I work with here. They are a good bunch of rednecks. Nascar & racing is big with them. My redneck fit right in there.
