Good day:

I've been doing some research on engine prelubers for my pick up and I was wondering if anyone has one installed and if so, do they like it and does it work. The industry I'm in has engine oil prelube on all the heavy equipment to help protect the engine during startup, especially in the bitter northern winters and I was wondering if that technology is available for my truck. I have a 98 F150 4.6L SC/SB 4x4. Any feedback would be much appreciated.

 

Yes, I put one on my 2001 4.6 (purchased new). That truck has never spent a night in a garage. I felt it would be an advantage in cold weather, particularly with the overhead cams. Also installed a block and battery heater (Ford accessory). Don't know how it'd be without them, but it's always started like springtime, and uses no oil at 145,000 miles.

I don't recall the brand right now, but it consists of a pressure tank and solenoid valve. Works somewhat like a pressure tank on a well system. Previously (on another vehicle), I had one that involved a small pump. I would not recommend that type because the pump didn't last.

Got it on the internet... wish I could tell you more, but my manuals aren't available and my son has my truck right now. You might try searching the oil and lube forum.
