oil in the intake

When replacing a fuel return line noticed that there is oil in the intake lines to the turbo. How, and what is the cause? Could this be a turbo going bad?

That oil came from the crankcase ventilation system. If you look at the left driver's side valve cover you will see a short hose that connects to your intake tube. Oily gasses flow from that tube into your intake tract and make their way through the system. That is why your IC boots get that oily gunk on them.

Doing a "CCV mod" will remedy this problem.

That's the CCV vapors re-entering the process.

DANG it... Scott beat me to it.

Here is some more info... (see CCV) http://www.7point3.com/mods.aspx (bookmark this).
You will notice that your turbo tubings are probably leaking oil vapors and getting your engine dirty.. Doing the CCV mod eliminates this...and will keep your intercooler clean.
