How to remove stock 56 F100 Master Cylinder?

I got under the truck today and could not get enough clearance to slide the pin that holds the MC pushrod out of the brake pedal. There is some obvious wear and the clutch linkage seems to be hitting the brake linkage. So everything needs to be rebuilt. I removed the brake pedal return spring, pulled the cotter pin but could not move the pedal forward or move the clutch linkage to clear.
Any suggestions? Do I need to remove other items first? My F100 owners manual is really weak on this subject.

Thanks

The adjustible linkage rod that goes in the MC just rests in it. adj it shorter and pull it out of the MC rubber boot

So no need to pull the pin? Just the two locking nuts on the rod?

Thanks!

Ya, I just did mine today. pull the bolt from the rear with the distribution block on it and adj the rod shorter and remove the two mounting bolts. It'll come right out.

Did you replace yours or rebuild it? I am thinking of upgrading to power assist and the linkage for the clutch is binding with the brake. I figure if I tear that apart it might be a bigger project than I want to get into right now.

How are the clutch and brake pedals removed? I think I have 50 years of sludge on them and not sure if there is a nut / bolt on the pedal locking it to the shaft.
The brake pedal is binding on the clutch (u-shaped thing) linkage.

Replaced it with a new one. 80bux was the best price i found online.
the pedal pads are a combo of a rubber pad bonder to a steel plate with a treaded post on back that threads into the cluch or brake arm. A pair of big channel locks or a strap wrench is the way to go on getting them off.

The U shaped bracket is actually grooved where the pin thru the brake cylinder pushrod has been contacting it.... I posted a picture in my gallery. The screwdriver tip is pointing at the bracket where it is worn...not easy to see but it is a 1/16" groove. Not sure why they hit, if I put the screwdriver between the bracket and the brake lever I can move the bracket over to create a clearance. So something is worn pretty good.

For what its worth I cut my rod out, got tired of fighting with it. Got a new one with my kit anyway.

I got the MC out, the boot over the pushrod makes things difficult. I really need to remove the brake and clutch pedals and linkage so that I can re-bush it and fix the clearance problem. I am not sure I understand the reason for the spring on the U-shaped bracket. I guess it allows the transmission to move
relative to the pedals. Maybe a call to LMC or Johns will get some advice on what to replace to fix the clearance problem.
