Bed Work.....

Well I finally got to doing some body work on the bed since I have all the tools I needed. Here are some before and after shots. I don't have a before shot of the smaller dent but it was a pretty messed up one. I am going to touch up and start adding body filler tomorrow. Not bad for a first timer!!

I don't know too much about body work, but I'd say not too bad at all.

I would have said you need to get rid of the socialist tree hugger bumper stickers, but as a mod. that's an opinion I'll need to keep to myself.

Did you notice the big grey Superduty moving in about six houses down from you?

Yeah, I have watched him for the past few days moving in...no I am not stalking him! LOL I haven't had a chance to talk to Mike yet. As for the stickers, they are long gone. That first pic was the day I got Mater home.

I wondered why I couldn't remember seeing them.....thought maybe I was losing my mind, then I remembered that to in order to lose something one must first posses it.

Well I did some more grinding and hammering to straighten some more spots out I wasn't happy with. I got some body filler on there now, it isn't the prettiest coating but it is on there. I just have to go and sand it down to see where I need to add some more to it. I got some new sanding disks for my air grinder so it should go pretty fast. More pics to come when that is done.

Andy, boy I bet your neighbors just love you hammering and grinding on an old truck in the driveway I'm sure glad that I don't live where I have anyone close by.

I was surprised that noone complains. Everyone seems to like the truck and see what I do to it.

The last time Scott and I were over at Andys, once we got out on the main road we left in twin clouds of black smoke with the tires complaining. I don't think anyone said anything to Andy about that and if that the case a little bang'n and grind'n aint nothing.

Well got around to doing some sanding on the filler. I still have to do some more sanding before I get the 2nd coat of filler on there. It is coming out pretty good so far.

Yes this is my first time doing any kind of body work. So I am learing as I go. I need to get a sanding block still, that is about the only tool I don't have. LOL

Here are some pics from today. I have the driverside sanded and primered. I didn't get a chance to put my body filler on yet. I ran out of time and wanted to get it primed before the rain gets here. There was damage to the bed that was covered up by LOTS of filler. I am going to fix some spots of filler and the rest I will leave alone. Dave stopped by and gave me some tips and pointers. Dave next time I go to spray I might have you stick around and watch me. I did 2 coats of primer and it took almost a qt's.

With that premixed stuff you are going to use alot . If you get a qt. lacquer primer surfacer and a gallon of thinner you would be money ahead . I will take you into town and introduce you to my paint guy . I would be more than happy to give you a few pointers.
