Thumbs up Bowhunters

Are there any other bowhunters out there?

I decided to retire my old Bear Trophy hunter and put together a new bow that I bought about 3 years ago. (I got more whitetails with this bow, than with my 30/30...But that is because I decided that it was more of a sport to hunt with a bow.)

Alpine 70lb 80% letoff
Single Hard Cam
Muzzy Zero Effect Rest
7oz Stabilizer
5 Pin Fiber Optic Site

I have always been a finger shooter, but I am setting this one up for a mechanical release. I have never used a peep, but may consider it. I guess I have always felt, like a rifle, as long as you have a consistant anchor and sight point, you will have an accurate shot.

Tell about your bow and favorite types of bow hunting.

I love archery, and have always wanted to try my hand at bow hunting. The feel of drawing the bow and holding it there as you sight in your target is great
I never have used a peep thought...let me know how you like it.
What do you plan to do with your old bow?

I don't believe in hunting with a bow, takes too long of the animal to die, and before I get the "learn to shoot then" response I used to shoot competition long bow and recurve. Not saying that I was a gold medalist, but I used to "Robin Hood" quite often.

As far as archery as a hobby though, I used to finger release a Bear Whitetail Hunter until it exploded on me one day at the range. Buddy of mine loaned me his trigger release Hoyt so that we could keep shooting. After several lost arrows (his was set up with a peep and I was confusing myself looking down the arrow and through the peep) I got the hang of it and fell in love. Did some looking and a lot of research and settled on the Hoyt CyberTec with a Quick Tune rest and a Trophy Ridge sight.

The whole set up:

The adjustable side of the Quick tune:

The sight (see the way they are stacked? you only have one pins worth of blockage in your field of view, but have the use of 5 independently adjustable pins.):

The 'Old Bow' will be hung on the wall...Though it is retired, I will break it out next time I hunt for whitetails.
