oil pan...what all will fit?

A buddy of mine has a 1999 PSD F250 4x4, 6 speed with a rusting oil pan. he's found a good deal on a brand new 1996 pan. Will the older ones fit? What all years will fit?

thanks!

He is aware that to change the oil pan you need to pull the engine a good 12-16" or cut the cross member and weld back on (this is not a good idea although many people will say its fine, it compromises the structural integrity of the vehicle especially when towing or pulling)

I know from 1999 to 2002/"2003" the engine was changed - The same 7.3 was used but many upgrades were made - i would not think a 96' would fit but i could be wrong. We will see what others have to say. A good fix is to sand it down, clean it up very well and use jb weld on problem areas. i have done this to mine and it hasnt leaked since. Its alot easier then pulling the engine

Hope this helped

How badly is it leaking? Or is it leaking yet. There are products similar to 'Tiger Hair' that can seal a pan with a minor leak. I Have to get after mine with some POR-15 pretty soon, before mine starts to leak.
