Why is my 2001 F-150 burning oil?

My 2001 F-150 is not leaking oil on the ground, but after 2200 miles I checked the oil because I noticed some blue smoke when I started my truck a few times. On 2200 miles the truck used 3 quarts of oil. This is the first time this has happened. Why is it useing so much oil? My truck has 65,000 miles on it.

how many miles on the engine?
I'd start with the easiest, like replacing the PVC with another MC one.

Are you the original owner? That really is almost unheard to loose that much oil in such a short amount of time. I would also, check that PCV valve.
