if the oil in th reservoir is low is it the HPOP or the oil pump that is shorting, also do th oil lines under the valve covers leak? what kinda fittings ect.
If your hpop is low it's most likely the check valve that always keeps a certain amount of oil it. Basically, so it doesn't drain out so you can start it.

Like Farm69 said, probably your check valve. There are no oil lines under the valve covers. The high pressure oil leaves the HPOP via the two braided high pressure hoses feeding into each head. Inside of the head are machined oil passages for the oil to flow through to reach the injectors.
