Question aluminum cylinder head advice ???

I am always looking for more horsepower , have ported cobrajet heads on 11.5:1 compression 428 engine 590" lift cam & performer RPM intake with 1025 cfm barry grant carb . edelbrock heads look pretty good , especially topped with victcr intake . Any one have any experiance with these , or any other aluminum heads ? twgofast

I have a pair on race car. They are about 10 yrs old now? I only rolled/gasket matched them, but they work well. I've had no problems with them. I know some guys pull the rocker studs out running big rollers, but think that could happen to any alum head.

I think the new Blue Thunder might be a better head then Eboks? They have some really nice stuff out. They moved the ports around, and really helped airflow. Bit spendy for me to switch just for the heck of it.

Larry I have to agree with the BT's being a nicer head hands down....the machine work and the casting layout looks far superior to the Edheads...and I have alway liked the idea of the inserts in all the holes too as to not only not get any false Tq reading..but for the treaded holes for a more stable clamp too..

But your right spendy is the word to say the least..But Dad always said you get what ya pay for!!

And I think Jom Dove and Paul Zogasman are chasing there tails around on the purosity issue on his new heads?? I think there trying to gravity feed the Die's instead of shot feeding them? JMO

Thanks for all the input guys , the blue thunder heads are new to me , I will have to seriously consider them . This engine , by the way , is in a 67 ford short bed ranger pickup . It is strictly a streetrace , weekend toy , that goes to the track for test & tune . It is really a blast to drive , you should see the looks on faces when I leave mustangs & camaros off the line , then pull them all way thru the eigth mile . The performer rpm intake seems to be fading around 5700-5800 rpm , conversations with edelbrock tech department have me a little hesitant , as they did on original build , to change over to victor FE intake . My experience with rpm's, victor's & others is limited to smallblock 400 chevy's with solid roller cams , big flowing heads & exhaust . The rpm intake died early , the victor pulled on up in the rpm range well , but , weiand's team-g pulled harder all the way thru . It was the winner , hands down , impresively !! ( THIS IS IN MY BROTHERS CORVETTE - I WOULD NEVER DRIVE SUCH AN OFF BRAND CAR ) I was running dangeriously close to his et's is what sparked all the changing of intakes . Now I am 4 tenths behind , and I am the one who is digging and scratching for more . The converter in front of the C-6 allows about 2100-2150 rpm footbrake stall before sliding thru the lights , it leaves hard on 4000 rpm hooked up , I'm thinking a trans-brake , and swaping the rpm for a victor will put me back in the hunt . The victor-FE is the only single plane hi-performance intake I am aware of . If the edelbrock or blue thunder heads would help just a little more , it would cause my brother to spend lots of CASH !!! BY the way I left out one thing you all must be wandering , the rearend had to be upgraded to 35 spline moser axles and a detroit locker cased in a strange center section with billet caps and 1350 series yoke . I know I am long winded , but I'm a horsepower junkie that loves to race !!!! ANY INFO OR ADVICE GREATLY APPRECIATED !!!!!

Why go halfway with a Victor ? Why not go "Whole Hog" and get a Blue Thunder Tunnel wedge and bolt on two 4 bbl carbs. Your bro will be too intimidated to even try it.

Well I think if you gave Barry R a call at SurvivalMotorsports.com he could set you up right..as he's been working with FE for a few years now..and has been doinf dyno testing with different out of box heads and stage I, II's and ***** out...heads..

And some of his own work...Like I said he know his FE's...He's placed the last couple year's in the EMC...with the motor reconfigured per the rules out of his Torino bracket car..lol... and Like BD said that coupled with a 2x4 intake and maybe a cam change? your Bro wouldnt know what hit him!! LOL..

You know the story...More air in More air out.. More HP in between!! Good luck and keep us posted!!
