just had one close by tell me it would be 450 bucks to put 4 pads on and turn 2 rear rotors...thats just plum stupid.....dont care if it is a dually.....what are yall payin ??
Do my own, these other places will rip ya. A month ago my son got an estimate for rear brakes on his jeep wrangler,,,, 350 bucks I did it for less than 85 for parts. Way to easy, do it yourself.
Brakes are so easy, it's a joke to take it elsewhere. I have heard that Dually's can be a little more of a chore on the rear end though. But front end is simple. I just did new rotors and pads on my front end for around $300 all aftermarket quality parts, not like to FoMoCo crap that was already warped. Maybe someone will chime in on the dually aspect. Either way, they are simple, plus you get the comfort of doing it yourself and checking on things. I also upgraded my caliper slides and did a needle bearing service and hub service while in my front end.
I was told 1300 for 4 rotors and pads . and that they had to pull the rear axels to put new rotors on .
Thats a dually thing. And actually, since I was looking in the fomoco manual for our trucks today it said the inner hub seal is supposed to be replaced everytime the hub is off. However in retrospect, I paid $14 for a new seal at the dealer. Doesnt make up for that much moolah.
no,SRW I really dont want pay that much hopefuly i'll get the nerve to do it myself
Then they are mistaken, SRW trucks do not require removal of axles, or hubs to do brakes, unless maybe they were going to replace the parking brake aswell.

the dually's require the hubs to be pulled front and rear, even then its not that much extra work, maybe 5 minutes more out back and 15 up front if they are rusty
oh, and to top that, they are ripping you off if they are charging you extra to turn rotors on a dually. Ford motor company requires all dealerships to haev an on car brake lathe at the dealer. that is the only way ford pays for warrenty repairs on brakes is to use the on-car. most places have the self calibrating, it takes virtually no time to set-up and it cuts so much better then the traditional lathe's, better yet you dont have to remove anything from the turck other thenthe brake pads. takes less time, makes a better cut, and its required by ford, so question them the next time they tell you they have to charge you extra because its a dually
In the past I paid $800 for 4 rotors, pads and calipers installed. I've never done brakes myself before......I'm due for a set sometime in the near future, I might just have to learn how to install myself!
