In 1977 there was indeed a Free Wheeling package, it's in the brochure called that. The flairsides had the outline stripes, as Monkey's, and the stylesides got rainbow stripes:
The reflective stripes, or "chromatic", as Ford called them, came out in 1979 I believe.
I like them best with the optional orange wagon wheels, those were very rare but really amplify the stripes IMO.

Free Wheeling Bronco
I have a free wheeling 1979 Bronco that is in REALLY GOOD shape for the year I was thinking of adding a lift kit and making it a hunting rig but after looking at yours I think I need to put it back to original or sell it to someone who would. Also I have question you could answer, what does the free wheeling package include the original option sheet lists the free wheeling package for 503.20 the chromatic tape stripe for 247.40wheels forged aluminum 5 slot for 98.10 it seems like for 500$ you would have got more than black painted bumpers and grill and the black mirrors (which feel like plastic to me) Chrome bumpers and the stainless mirrors should cost more? thanks BOB

In addition to the stripes, black bumpers, mirrors and grille, the only other item included with the Freewheeling Package was the Styled Steel Wheels (wagon wheels) in either white or yellow, with L78x15C raised white letter offroad tires. Since your rig upgraded the stripes and the wheels, it really was just about the black trim. They could have ordered the black mirrors separately and saved quite a bit of money!
The black mirrors are indeed plastic.
Is yours the silver one north of Spokane? I saw that on Facebook. Nice looking rig.

This may help answer the original question. This is from the Marti report for a 1977 F150 that I have.
