New Dodge Ram Power Wagon?

Folks, here's the deal: I've been slobbering all over the Power Wagon ever since it came out. Even though I've always been die-hard Ford, I'm seriously considering trading in my Super Duty for one of these, for the following reasons:

1.) Quad Cab - Ford's crew cabs are too long, and the extended cabs don't have enough room. Length is important, as I go camping in the forest in these Wyoming mountains and too long of a truck can get you into trouble. I think the quad cab is an excellent compromise. It's 4-doors for the family, but my kids don't need a fullsize backseat. I'm 6 foot tall and an extended cab puts my seat right into the knees of my kids in the back.

2.) Factory 4X4 - again, mountains. The Power Wagon has all the features I'd love to add onto my Ford - electronic front and rear lockers, 4.56 gears, electronic disconnecting front swaybar, BFG AT tires, 12,000 lb. Warn winch.

I am concerned about the pulling power of the Hemi - my '04 5.4 F-150 used to outpull my buddie's Hemi in his 2500. However, I think the deep gears would make it tolerable. I also hear that the body and interior are lacking in the durability department.

What I would like to hear is some honest feedback from Ford owners who have direct experience with these or similar Dodge trucks. Intelligent points and observations are also otherwise welcome.

Please, no trolls or "are you freakin' stupid?" remarks. They will be ignored.

BTW, this is expected to be my wintertime daily driver, 8,000 lb. camper hauler, and mountain goat to get to the fishing and hunting spots.

Thanks!

I actually work at a chrysler dealership, and we have a power wagon on the lot... its not a bad looking truck, but honestly i had to drive a standard 4x4 2500 for about 4 hours one day, they ride like ***** compared to the Ford Super Duty. My body was shaken badly frmo the ride. The interior is made cheaply and seats are very uncomfortable, I have no faith in any chrysler products as i believe that they are made very cheaply. I'm biased towards Ford, not gonna lie but.. I definately wouldnt go with a Dodge. The power wagon has alot of cool features in the off road department, buttt i wouldn't get rid of a solidly built Ford for just for that reason. Just my opinion.

You can also buy an E-locker for your truck for about 700 dollars, get a winch... I'm sure that'd be cheaper then having an outrageous payment!!

IMO Power Wagons are a bit overpriced. Sure, they have some neat doodads on them, but $50K? Ouch!

duramaximizer is new and has a neutral reputation at this point.
All new trucks are 50k so they all ought to have cool doodads for that price.

Yeah If I build & price the truck that I want, the Power Wagon only runs $5k more than a Ford.

I have driven the new Super Duty (F-250) and the new Power Wagon. I have to agree with SDMF47, the ride isn't as nice as in the Super Duty and the seats are very uncomfortable. I don't know about how cheap the interior is, I was the second person to ride in the Wagon.

How does the 5.7L hemi react to 4.56's? The tires are not that big and with those gears I bet it pulls like a mother, for a V8 that is.

If I am not mistaken, the power wagon is only offered in a gasser?

They must be for "special people", or they all came from Canada... official word from the dealer is no Cummins for the Power Wagon as of yet.
