Randy, I'm back, and I measured my frame for you. I got 5.5" for the DS frame perch and 4.5" for the PS. That is from the crossmember perpendicular up to where the rubber mount goes. The numbers are approximate.

I purchased a 73 crew cab recently and found out the roof needs to be replaced, just wondering if any one that's done the van roof, has pictures or know of a build thread.thanks

So I was perusing my old posts, looking for a '78 I had at the time, and I found this post:

https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/2...ml#post1746875

I posted that on 7/4/2004.....only took me about 10 years to get what I wanted . The options powertrain options I want now are a little different than back then, but the base is close.

your truck was on c-list about 3-4 months before you bought it for 9k.....i really should've made it happen and flown out to check it out.

Glad you are happy with it...hopefully the things done by the guy you bought it from were done correctly.

Can anyone point me as to how the factory seat belts mounted in the back of a 79 crew cab? I don't see any provision for mounting them like they are done for the front seat. (no provision in the shoulder area of the rear pillar on the cab)

I picked up a crew over the weekend and need to get back seatbelts installed before taking the family for a ride.

This thing has seats in it from a conversion van...the front has a retractor on the floor, through a loop at the shoulder b-pillar on the truck (at the factory location) and then down to the receiver which is connected to the seat. (obviously not factory) it works pretty well but cant' do that for the rear.

Rear seats had Lap Belts ONLY.

Either put in Lap Belts, fabricate for adding shoulder belts or get different seats that have the belts in them.

thanks oddfordjunkie....i need a 3 point deal for the kiddies...will have to make something work from the c-pillar....doubt it's re-inforced enough since there was no provision there from the factory.

Some guys cut the entire "pocket" for the seat belt out of a standard cab and weld that in, others reinforce the area with a piece of plate and put in the style that uses a single bolt on the C pillar and the retractor mounts on the floor.

I scored 3 center seats for 2012 F-150 that have the belts in them so I need to fab a mount and gonna use them as my back seat, then I can put the kid in the middle and drop both side seats which will trap her and give her 4 cup holders and 2 storage compartments.

thanks for the info....my seats are nice so they will stay. It looks like some companies make booster seats for up to 80lbs that secure using just a lap belt and then 5-pt harness integral to the booster seat. At $60 they are cheaper than new 3-pt belts.

New question: where to buy the rear door interior straps that mount above the door panel?

Retrofit Seat Belts Installation Shoulder Bolt Anchor Point Your Classic Car, Hotrod 3 Point Seatbelts

The actual belt I am considering :

I did a post in the regular 73-79 forum about fitting 1995 crewcab power windows and locks in a 75 crewcab, I posted it there as most dent side owners are not crewcab owners and could use the info, so then I thought I would do a reply here for any CC owners who may be interested in the upgrade, it's not super hard, it's cheap and it works great.

Installed 3-pt universal seat belts last night in the back. My truck has a roll bar so I drilled a 7/16" hole through that and secured the shoulder loop to it. I mounted the retractor mechanism horizontal instead of vertical...seems too work just fine that way but may change it to vertical in the future and mount the retractor using a clip angle.

Does the aftermarket make the rear door grab straps?
