I have an 86 f250 4x4 with a 460 & C6 trans with 172,000 on the engine, the body and running gear are good but the engine is tired. I was wondering if anyone had any info, comments, or suggestions on swaping in a 87-90's EFI 460.
Any help would be appreciated.

 

HELLO....YES THE ENGINE WILL FIT BUT ITS THE WIRING THAT WILL MAKE YOU PUT A CARB ON THE ENGINE. I JUST DID IT ON MY 87 F350. I USED THE MOTORSPORT WIRING HARNESS FROM A MUSTANG USING THE COBRA KIT THEN I HAD TO REPROGRAM THE CONTROL UNIT WITH A LAP TOP ...GOOD LUCK BOE

 

How and where did you get information on reprogramming the mustang control unit with your laptop? I want to find out all I can about the process, I can't find a manufacturer of a reprogrammer for my '95 460 E40D.... Folks sell chips but no reprogrammers..... I want to be able to tune the truck for the type of use taht day! If you knpoe what I mean...
