If you're talking SRWs in both cases, there isn't that big of a price difference and there isn't much difference, either (DRW is another story). I think it's mainly a taller block on the rear axle, but I recently looked at a 250 and 350 side by side and that even looked the same for '08. I think there is a difference in the splines on the rear axles themselves, but the diameter of the axle is the same. The 350 will be rated for more (or can be) from the factory and can cost more for registration because of this, depending on your state's dmv policy...

Hopefully some others will chime in here...

More splines on the axles of the 350, and I believe the 350 also has axle shafts 1/4inch thicker. Also a taller block on the leafs and stiffer springs. Mine also had an overload spring compared to the 250.

Its funny how nobody seems to know for sure. I even looked at the literature an it dont say eithr. Maybe the owners manual would tell more specs.. Hopefully somebody knows exactlty what the differences are. Maybe I should email Ford direct to find out. lots off dealers arnt for sure.

I have attached the link to the vehicle specification guide for the 08 model.

All the differences are in that

A 4 inch block instead of a two inch block! Thats really it. There might be some axle differences, but nothing much. now you get to duallys thats when it changes.

the rear axle is the big item otherwise really the same truck - basically if you want a taller rear end get the 350 - if you want to haul a lot get aux air ride aftermarket.

note - adding any heavy suspension package hurt the ride quality of the front axle greatly - only get a heavy pkg if you are really going to load the front axle
