Just ordered custom tuned SCT Xcal3 from Mike with www.5startuning.com. Mike was extremely helpfull and very accesable. He only charged $365 with shipping for the tuner and 3 custom tunes. Plus, he shipped the tuner with the tunes just One Day after I placed the order. The tuner shipped today, should be here soon, I will post the results.

Of course I don't have any other custom tunes comparison, all I've had in the past is canned handheld tuners. But so far I a very happy with the service Mike gave me, he sent me his cell # and answered all my questions. I will post back in a couple of days when I get the tuner.

 

I think that dude is the most helpful SCT on the planet Earth! I bought a Livewire from him and he really seemed to go out of his way to help me. He even wrote me a small apology note for having to wait. It was the factory that was draging their heels. I'm highly considering buying a pro racer package from him.

 

Got tuner on Friday! Truck responds a whole lot better, really feels like a different truck all together. Throttle response and takeoff are great. Seems like he knows what he is doing. He sent three tunes, a 87 Daily Driver, 87 Towing Tune, & 93 Performance. Haven't tried the towing or performance yet, but will soon.
Service was great too, he answered all my questions and helped out alot. Just wanted to post my experience with his service.

 

That's why I posted what I did. There's still a small issue with mine but he's got the factory on it. You gotta try the others too. If you took the restrictions off the intake and exhaust then hang on. I have to take off locked in second on damp pavement. Never heard my tires before till it got tuned.

 

I've got a borla exhaust and AF1 intake coming this week, can't wait to install them. Kaboom10 - what tune are you running?

 

I've been switching between all of them to see what they can do. I did my restrictions first and when it was in open loop the response was great but after tuning I'm gonna have to buy some new tires.

Another me too. Mike is GREAT. My SCT X3 is so far just right for me. He set the tunes to match my truck the mods I have and how I drive. The street soft econ 80hp runs great. I will do a tow test run this week using the 50 hp tune. Thanks to all on this thread for pointing me to Mike at 5startuning.

 

I agree Mike @ 5 Star is as good as it gets for tuning know how and service. He worked with me to make a custom tune to work with my aftermarket valvebody. Great guy to work with.

 

Hi All! Need to throw my two cents worth in...

After reading all the positives about Mike at 5star I called him about an SCT for my new to me '04 Excursion, not only did he provide great customer service, once I placed my order I received his email that my tuner was setup and shipped!!! Same day service!!! I cant wait to load my tunes and see how my truck runs!

If you are considering a tuner for yourself give Mike a call...you won't be disappointed!
