just an idea but what do u guys think ?

been looking at my 49 and trying to figure a way to make a subtle change to it and still make it look kinda factory...id also like to take some of the hight out of the body, so i did a quick photochop from a pic of another truck
its kinda hard to tell but i cut out the upper panel were the ford logo was and droped the hood/body down to match the grill...

heres what it started as...

This truck was featured in a current magazine, sorry I forgot which one, something like Hot Rodder:

The changes are very subtle but they did a lot of modifications. You can see the fabrication here.:

<a href="http://www.jefflilly.com/50-ford/" target="hrod">http://www.jefflilly.com/50-ford/</a>

Make sure to click on the pictures, they'll open another page with more pictures of the modifications.

Looks great; But wouldn't you have to cut the entire truck from nose to tailgate and take out the same amount front to back to get that look? Be a lot of work. Why not just channel it 4" and chop the top 3 inches and pancake the hood to get it down. Be less work. Just my $0.02 cents worth.

The key to good looks on 48-52s is the horizontal lines ....running boards......guard swages........hood side trim & door handles

any time you screw with ANY of these lines, you get UGLIER...and NOT in a good way

BTW...that trim tech article was in Super Rod mag (Feb 08)

I know on this forum, there are a LOT of fairly conservative 'quasi-restorers'.

Nuthin wrong with that.........for THEM.

I am NOT one of them.....I say CUT that old steel and dump it on its ****...
HOWEVER......after 10 years owning my 52 F1......ALL the coolest F1s I see lately have STOCK bodies.....Im even starting to go AGAINST one-piece windows.

would it look to weird to do it to the body and not the box? cus this would bring the box up toward the rear window making the gap from the top of the truck to the box more perportionate....

Gene Windfield built a truck similar to that back in the fifties.
Chopped sectioned custom grill.
