I do like my truck better than the Chevy in terms of cab size and truck-like feel. Its getting hard to find a nice low km 7.3 truck! If I ever found one I might run two vehicles - a smaller vehicle like a 4x4 ranger. I would never own a vehicle that wasnt a 4x4.
I have been watching the newer 6.0's and they arent better - they are just newer with less miles and hence less troubles! The 6.0 forums here and TDS, and a few dealers I have talked to support my claim. They have the same basic design flaws - poor clamping forces with crappy head bolts, an EGR system thats not perfected, the bright idea of running the engine oil cooler and EGR cooler in line with each other causing cooler failure and coolant system pressurization with compression gases, and the same variable geometry turbo principle (the trucks post 2003 have a different turbo but problems still persist). Actually the HPOP system seems to be worse on the newer ones as there appear to be more failures.

Yeah i get around great with 2wd just the odd day i wish i had a 4x4 sitting around but sometimes cant have your cake and eat it to im sure once i get it i would always want it
Those hemis are supposed to get like 24ish mpg or something crazy like that when the cylinders shut off. I cant see that, they like to drink their fuel.
i've heard of one that "has" gotten that mileage but the owner is known to stretch the truth. my uncle has that MD hemi in his mega cab 1500 and i hand calculated 13 mpg empty, cruising at 105, and 9 mpg cruising at 95 with a 24' enclosed trailer with 3 bikes in it. sad if you ask me.
marlon has gotten 21 empty on the highway, i believe. that was with only about 400kms on the truck. i think he averages 14-17 around town but i'm not sure of that.
