rear disc conversion. But what about legal e brake??
Wanting to do a rear disc conversion but wondering what the best rotor and bracket kit would work and be the simplest. Biggest thing that has stopped me from wanting to do it is what do you do for a e-brake??? My truck is big on 42" tires and the stopping power would be nice but due to the size of my truck i usually get a safety inspection every year (even though it passes every time no prob) so it has to be street leagal??? O rear end is a 75' hd drum dana 60 8 bolt

Are we refering to the older F-superdutys with dana 80s? They have an external parking brake mounted on the back of a transmission like a transfer case although im sure some had regular ebrakes cuz we know there were 4x4 conversions. Newer F-450 superdutys have dana 110 rear I thought or is that only on the newest ones?

check out the vendor forum at www.CK5.com there are many rear axle disc kits there. DIY4x4,Blackbird,Gravel Maker,etc.. are all great vendors. AND they have the BEST prices I have found. You'll be using the GM calipers and front rotors off a Chevy 3/4t 4x4. Good Luck.

Just as a heads-up - these "kits" are all pretty much the same. They sell you a bracket for the caliper, calipers (all seem to use chevy - El Dorados are the E- brake ones) and chevy rotors. Some kits may include new brake lines, but they pretty much all use the same rotors and caliper options.
Some places sell you just the caliper bracket and tell you what year rotors and calipers to ask for at the parts store...

If you go with the kit that supplies only brackets and rotors, it'll most likely use the front calipers from a '73-'87 GM 3/4 ton 4x4. The rear calipers from a '76-'78 Caddy El Dorado. They are interchangeable. If you need the legal parking brake, you'll have to use the Caddy's. Don't expect to be able to use them to hold your truck on a very steep incline though. They just can't do it.
If a Mico-Loc is do-able, you should install it. That way you've got a parking brake that'll hold. Not a legal parking brake, though.
