There are very few forged piston choices for the 300 and I don't know of any that will get you into the 12-13:1 neighborhood.

390 pistons will work IF your block can take the .050 overbore needed.

I've heard that 350 chevy pistons can be modded to fit a 300. I know the bore is the same, but I have no idea about the piston pin diameter or location.
The upside is high compression forged pistons are abundant for the chevy small block, the downside is they can be rather pricey, and then have to be modded, which is usually not cheap.

The CR is something you'll have to calculate based on factors not limited too but include: block deck milling, head deck milling, cylinder boring, as well as piston selection.

There are several pistons that can be made to work, if you do your homework.
Factors you'll need to consider are: compression height, piston dome volume, wrist pin size, etc. This also means you have to consider your connecting rods and crankshaft as well.

As an example: A good machinist could modify Eagle CRS6200B3D rods to mate with a 300 crank and then Ross 80565 pistons for the 351W are drop in. Unlike the 390 pistons the compression height is actually a little shorter than the 300 (Ross 1.713" v stock 1.785") so milling the piston tops shouldn't be neccessary. Not cheap(parts alone will be over 1k), but doable.

I thank you for the info; I was just hoping I could grab something off the shelf...since I plan on a production line if these engines, for the amount of $ involved, I might commission one of the manufacturers to make a production of the custom forged piston. As i explained, i would like to make these e-85 friendly engines to families that can't afford a $30k new vehicle w/insurance costs and tags, and every other regulatory tax there is. Thanx again. DWD.

352 FE pistions with .050 m illed off the tops will work to raise the compression as well.

I don't know if I would want a piston with .050 missing from the top in a 13:1 engine. The 352 is in the same boat as the 300 with piston choices anyway.
