351c Heads on 351M

I know this has been covered many times and I did a search that came up with tons of information that left me more confused than before...

I think I can get a set of 351 cleveland heads real cheap, some people say that if they are 2 valve heads, I think they are, then that will raise my compression ratio and flow better, obviously making more horse power. other sources say don't bother unless you plan of revving it to the moon because compression won't change much and the original heads flow good enough at normal rpms. Also what intake would I use with this setup, one from a 351c, or 351m, or some kind of adapters? Please enlighten me...

Thanks

Hi
First what do you want to do with the truck is the truck going to see high rpm,s all the time or just some of the time? Do you want low end torque to pull real good with? That determines what you do to your engine to get the results you want.IF you want you can send me an e-mail and I will help you as much as I can.My address is in my profile. Thanks Rory

The 2v Cleveland heads are a direct swap with the same combustion chamber volume. They have better exhaust passages than some of the later 251M/400 heads and I would use them. The 4v heads will cause you a lot of problems. They have huge passages.

From what i have researched the heads will bolt up. You'll need to use the intake for the 351M/400. The 351m/400 moter has a taller deck than the cleveland and so the intake manifold is wider. You could use your stock intake or edelbrock makes a performance intake for the 351m/400 moter. Check out this article i found in this site that should help with this moter. https://www.ford-trucks.com/article/...00_Engine.html
