When I got mine on my 04 f150 5.4L it seemed to take a while till the full sound kicked in. I'm pretty sure they put a 60 series on it. When I started it for the first time it sounded stock. Since then it has come into its own. Is that normal? I am asking because one of my ball players got a 05 f150 5.4L and put true dual 40 series on his and it came out sounding stock. Has anyone else had this problem?
That sounds normal. It will take a bit for it to heat up and break in. My last truck that I had Flows on took a couple of weeks to finish breaking in. I could hear a difference in a few days then and little more from there.
yeah, thats normal....i've had flowmasters on previous trucks, mustangs exc and it always took a few weeks until the muffler "broke in"...then it sounded deeper and louder....i'm not sure what breaks in though because it's just chambered inside so it didn't make sense to me but thats what happened...
The flows on my '72 seemed to get louder with age, but the Magnaflow on the '05 hasnt really changed. The shop guy that installed it said it would get a little quieter with some carbon inside of it. Well, there's either no carbon in it, or he didnt know what he was talking about, as it hasnt changed. I like the sound level just where its at, cant hear it at idle or on the highway unless you step on it, and a nice mellow sound when you leave the stoplight.
