power slot and hawke prices
I've been shopping for new rotors and pads, the cheapest I can find for all 4 tires is $650.00. That is through AutoAnything. Does anyone know of anyplace cheaper? I am planning on going with the Power slot rotors and Hawke LTS pads. I know some of you have this same set up, how do you like them? Thanks

A couple months back I paid $702 (shipping included) for CRYO Power Slot Rotors & Hawk LTS pads.
I got mine from AutoAnything... Search the net for discount codes. I found one on "another" Excursion site. But, I've seen the codes here on FTE too!!
I'm gonna guess the price you quoted was for rotors w/o the cryo treatment.
Good Luck!

Your right I did not go with the cryo treatment, I just looked at Summit and they were about 15.00 less. Do you think the cryo's are that much better? I don't tow except for a utility trailer once in a while. I just wanted better brakes and in the event I get a camping trailer I wanted something that would hold up.

Long story short (I'll link to the other threads), slotted or drilled/slotted rotors have less surface area for the pads to contact which means less stopping. As far as out-gassing, the 60s are gone. Modern brake pads do not have that problem anymore. When one asks about cooling, the drilled/slotted rotors have less surface area to cool the rotor and are more prone to cracking and warping. When people purchase them and claim to have better braking, 95% of the time it is simply due to the fact that they are new rotors rather than their old ones. Also, drilled/slotted rotors will wear your pads faster.
Get a set of good rotors such as the brembo blanks from tirerack and a good set of pads and you're set. I have heard great things about the Hawk LTS pads. Also, if you can swing it, a set of stainless steel brake lines makes a HUGE difference.
