door locks

I have a 98 Mercury Mountaineer thats has power door locks. As soon as I start it, the doors will lock, even if the door is open. This has caused me to lock myself out a time or two.If it hadnt been for the coded key pad, this would have been bad. I thought they were not supposed to lock until after you put it in gear and let off the brake? Anyone else had this problem?

try turning off the auto lock feature, the process can be found in the owners manual.

Sounds like the security computer is confused. Try disconnecting the battery for about 1/2 hour. You may notice a little drivabilty differences while the computer reltrains itself, but if's a free fix if it works.
I fixed an erratic fuel gauge doing that.
