There is a guy at Cypress that has a Bronco. He told me the other day that he'll probably sell it at the end of the season...

I never did have to get anything aircared when I lived out there, and we dont have to get that out here, so for me thats not a problem.

I thought you had to aircare a truck, unless it was a 1 ton?

Not if GVW is at 5001KG. Aircare is such BS. Avoided it wherever possible since it's conception. I've lived all over BC now. It'll be nice to see some of those places sometime.

No aircare here. Not much else either. My wifes car is aircared till the end of the year probably because we bought it at the coast.

You lived out here, when? The turn of the 19th century?

AirCare was probably needed for the first few years it operated, due to the general age of the Lower Mainland vehicle fleet(70's 80's V8s at the time). Now, they should scrap it, now that everyone drives 4-cyl cars, the few remaining "real" vehicles(trucks) don't contribute much pollution. Pretty much all cars made after 90? emit like %99.5 LOWER emmissions than anything built in the 70's(not exact, just paraphrasing what I learn from listening to car people) it's a big number anyway...

If you have to AirCare a gas engine that emits chemicals into the air, then why, WHY, don't you have to AirCare - lawnmower, weedeater, forklift, go-kart, drag cars, bus, semi, BOATS!, skidoos, snowmobiles, motorbikes?, chainsaw, portable generator, bulldozer, excavator, cranes(are they electric?), ATV, military vehicles?, firetrucks?, police fleet?, airport vehicles that never leave the property, mining operation vehicles, farm machinery-tractors-bailers-etc- ARRRRGGGGGHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh yeah, the reason I responded in the first place. THe 5001 GVW MYTH!
Yes, if you are over that, you are aircare exempt. Technically works.
Problem - if you are over that and you are in an accident, when they check your vehicle papers and see that your claimed 5001kg is on a vehicle(truck) not capable of that, then you are automatically declared %100 accident is YOUR fault.
Too many people change the number without actually making the truck capable of it, so if you have accident, you are stupid AND broke!
Yes I did that for when I started driving on my truck for the first couple of years, when I heard this, I asked an Autoplan agent I deal with regularly and he confirmed it, so I changed it back down to what it was originally. AND if you think you are avoiding paying for aircare, they still get your wallet. If you have a 2200kg truck and a 5001kg truck, the 5001 truck will cost you about $30 more a month(or it did me at the time anyway) so that is 30x12=$360. Aircare is $24, you do regular maintennce on your truck anyway, right? so save yourself some money so you can afford to drive the damn thing with gas prices the way they are.

That weight thing applies to all vehicles(passenger?). Last year I swapped insurance from an oldsmobile to an nissan and the payment went from $97 to $86 per month, I asked the agent if that was cause the nissan was 6 years newer, he said no, its a lighter weight vehicle. What's up with that?

I still think they should scrap aircare though, what with all the newer vehicles running around now. OR expand it to EVERY gas powered tool/vehicle in B.C. All or nothing, thats my viewpoint on this topic.

Oh, the same goes to avoiding aircare by registering the vehicle outside of the lower mainland. If you are in an accident in burnaby, live in PoCo, and work in Van, they will figure out you are illegally insuring your vehicle and again BAM %100 accident your fault. unless ICBC changed policy but I don't think they would.

When i was replacing my (stock) alternator. I used heat, BFH, and 1 can of WD40 (couldn't find my jugoojuice). Finally I had to pull the rad, and get at the swing bolt with my impact gun.
