Best Price for Precision Industries TC

Who has the best price for a Precision Industries Stallion torque converter? puredieslpower.com has it for $1040. Anyone know where I can get it cheaper?

Thats a good price! Uh oh Chris is doing some tranny work! If you plan on keeping it under 400hp i would strongly suggest the 6.0 converter, or the new 6.4. The stall speed is set up much better for our trucks i think. I run a Stallion in my tranny however i still feel it is too "loose".

"loose"? I'm asuming you mean in the unlocked state? I though the PI converter had a more aggressive unlocked manner to it.

Well it's nothing compared to the three stock 6.0's i drive for work. You can defanitely tell that the gear changed, by looking at the RPM drop and hearing it. What i don't like about this iis when you are accelerating with it unlocked, the RPMs never seem to increase, just a constant waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhh and the speed increases. Plus when it shifts the rpms seem to stay the same, especially on 80 econo and up. The towing files i love, however because it locks the TC and feels like a 6 speed. I asked jody to put more line pressure in when he did live tuning, and its still mushy feeling.

Its supposed to, and also has a lower stall, to give you that. Maybe kris' has a problem? I have one in my truck, and I absolutely love it. Jody has tuned for it and the bts vb aswell. Seems to be a good matchup, and from what I understand, thats what bts uses, is a PI. I also got mine from Garrett at PDP. Good guy, and he got it here really fast. I think hes the best price.

I know youll want the tuning adjusted for it. If you dont, it will be the harshest t/c lockup youve ever experienced. I ran it for a couple of months before I got my dptuner and bts vb. Its all in the tuning. I actually prefer the way it shifts with the 80 tow, vs the 80 econo tune. It takes a little more pedal on the first half of the pedal to make the truck move the same, while using the 80 tow, but you reach the 1/2 throttle easier then, and the way mines setup, is from 1/2 on it will lockup the t/c starting as early as the 1-2 shift, and during the next shift, if your not starting in 1st gear. Im not sure if thats how Jody does everyone, but i specifically wanted that. Otherwise under normal acceleration it locks up in 3rd, similar to stock, however id like that to lockup sooner aswell, just cant justify being without the chip. The pi and bts vb and jodys tuning all together make for a really good shifting experience IMO. I took some cheesey video today with my digi cam, i just need to figure out how to get it online. not sure if my photobucket supports it or not.

I got my PI from BTS when Jon Faubion rebuilt my tranny. He probably won't beat the price your getting (won't hurt to ask though) but when my PI TC went out 9 months later, Brian sent me a new one at no cost.

Rich, what went bad in yours? Or what happend?

Heres a link to the videos i took today. Its kinda hard to accelerate fast from a stop, and not have the t/c lockup in the 80tow. Ones a full throttle accel for comparison.

Good videos mike! Well mine was a fluke and should not have happened - maybe it was built on a late friday or hangover monday , I do not make enough power to hurt a PI.

I do not know anything about Torque Converters except that they convert torque. But Jon showed me when he took it out that the sprag (if that's how you spell it) was busted in pieces. Brian shipped one to me and I had it in 2 days, after the install I sent him the old one back. All was good again.
