Wow!! Awesome!!

I had a 59 Ranchero that I ended up selling for $400 and a case of beer to a hunchback....true story.

Should have kept it.

We had 23 60-66 Falcon/Comet/Fairlane cars, and 17 53-56 F-100-350 trucks at one time. Then, we moved to Nevada. Sold most all of it, and brought only a small stock pile of spare true NOS parts, and excellent slavaged used parts. We had picked up a nice 59 Ranchero that had the 352 in it, had P/S, P/B, etc. Was a neat, and very powerful old beast. Blew the stock rear out of it, but picked up a parts 59 wagon that had a factory posi in it. Ran that old ranchero til we spun a main taking dad to the VA hospital in Reno. Mom was pissed. We could never bring ourselves to tell her the truch, that we were chasing Chevy Vettes, and Honda V-tecs down I-80, and leaving em in the rear view (she'd a killed us for sure). We used to ride around in a '58 Skyliner retractable hard top with all the options when I was younger. It was cool. Dad was a caretaker for a retired dentist, that just never drove the car anymore, and he insisted that we take it out every sunday for family cruises. It was a sharp car, and a blast to sit in. Gotta love that old stuff, wish they still made em like that, but I guess only in a perfect world...

Yes, rust was a big problem. We bought a new '57, in Hawaii. by '61 we had repair all the corners - now sure, Hawaii has a big rust problem, but 4 years??

I keep looking for a nice '57, retract if I can find one. I think that would be THE sweet ride for my wife. Of course, she leans towards the mid-50's Caddy's. But, I think if she had the retract, she'd "settle" for it.

never was too fond of the 57 car front ends but the 58 & 9 were sweet lookin rancheros, and speakin of restomods, i have seen pics of a couple of this generation rancheros with edsel front clips and rear ends grafted onto em'
in books.....now they're super sweet!!!
[/I](Just a footnote to this generation of 7-8-9 ford cars their auto columns work great in 57-60 trucks and keep the original look)

there was a fella here in springpatch had a 58 just sitting and going to hades and would not come off of it . he was gonna fix it up one of these days he'd always tell me . i bugged him often enough about it he knew me by name . it just all of a sudden dissappeared from the side of his shop one day . never bothered to go in and ask as i'd probably say something stupid or be appalled at what he'd say . resto mod huh. well i geuss most of us are or are gonna be . as soon as i sell smiley im buying the disc brakes and dual master cylinder kit , gonna replace the rear diff to lose the gears in it so it becomes a little more driveable . leaving it alone then other than i have decided to lower it . someone has plans on hauling a whole lotta crap and i got the only p/u so she's gonna try and kill it . aint gonna happen . if it's lowered and pretty much useless as a truck it'll live a longer happier life here . so yeah mine is kinda a resto mod .
