Dont drive my truck much in winter except to warm up a couple times a week. Should I change oil on a time basis? If so how often? Is breakdown of oil a problem more without running it ? Thanks, Bill
you are far better off not starting it if you dont plan to run it..every time it warms and cools water builds up in the oil from moisture..to get rid of the water..the truck need to come up to temps to boil out the water...
I drive my truck once a week to drive out the moisture and circulate the oil in the differentials.
Ron is right, you need to drive it until it's fully warmed up and then some.
Time is just as much a factor as mileage driven, so plan on oil changes, etc every three months.
Last oil change for me was around 1500 miles driven but it had been nearly four months so I brought it into the shop and did it.
