Yep, they get stolen all over this area. I am 40 miles north of Houston and it's bad here too.

One more awsome benefit of our rediculous border policies! Even though I live in maine I would still be concered about this because our borders to the north are even more porous.Time for a better kill switch

When I get my DP Tuner I will enjoy the peace of mind having a No Start position. Truck theft here in Arizona is a big problem as well just like TX and CA.

So to me, the moral of the story is buy a Chevy so you'll have a truck not even thieves want...

Let's see -- you know you live in an area where this is happening, yet you leave your truck sitting out where anyone can walk up and just take it. This is why mine gets parked in a garage at night. If it doesn't fit in a garage, invest in a *GOOD* security system. Whatever you spend on it will likely be refunded & then some on insurance premiums. I agree that Ford should've put the RFID keys in these a lot sooner. Heck, my 2000 Ranger had that. hhmmm... An $18k Ranger has it, but a $45k PSD doesn't. Bone-headed move, Ford!!!

I know this theft issue is has gotten pretty ridiculous over the last year all over. I dont have dp yet Does the factory alarm provide any security other than going off if the doors are opened without the key?

Security Tip

If I am going to leave my truck outside for any length of time I pull off the small wire on the fender mounted starter solenoid. With it lifted the starter will not function. With this wire lifted when you turn the key there is nothin'. It just pulls off and pushes back on.

That's what I do when we go to a game or any event where no one would notice someone stealing my truck. I also do it if I have to leave it at the airport. My buddy put a switch up in the top of the front wheel well that cuts off the electrical system.

Just another thought, you could always pull the plug on the throttle position sensor on the accelerator pedal. Truck would start and idle, but no pedal.

Would be fun to see some dumba## thief idling outa the parking lot.

The only thing better than that would be to have a computer voice reminder telling the theif to release "both" parking brakes. I wonder how long they would look for that second parking brake.

Sirthomas,

That wire goes directly down to the starter.

I dunno guys, grabbing the DP F5 and sticking it in your pocket as you walk in the house seems like a no brainer to me. By the time they're cranking it, you (hopefully) hear the commotion and can run outside with 100 lbs. of dog and S&W (in my case 200 lbs of dog -- I have 2 100 pounders ). Heck, the no-start feature alone makes the DP worth every penny if you live in an area like that. Just show your wives the article, and tell her your ordering the DP "security system" for your truck.
